About

Welcome to the home of MetaTalks Podcast. This weekly podcast is a continuing open conversation and dialogue between two friends, @eljeppy and @alachia. Frequent conversations will pertain to the online world we call the "meta' and its cultural emergings. You will notice also that our shows are recorded in binaural format so it is highly recommend you listen using headphones rather than speakers. It's an experiment we are trying out to better enhance the "space" and experience of listening to podcasts online. Read more about who we are »

About Us

Jeppy Bio:
Born in his beloved country of France, Jeppy enjoys everything about the French culture. He considers himself one of the most shining examples of a modern French man. In his youth, he traveled to America where he did extensive study if 1337 speak and is fluent in both Squeee and Nao.

He is obsessed with Richard Dawkins and hopes to help form a new Dawkinian society and has started a grassroots destroy all theology movement online. One of his proudest moments was when he helped to launch the world's largest 'French against Tea and Biscuits' organization. They were successful in holding a demonstration where boxes of tea and biscuits were poured in the Rupt de Mad river. There is a youtube video available of the rally showing him then take a piss into the river. Viva la Cookies and Coffee!

Jeppy has always been interested in the Meta and ideas about online culture. After starting his first 4chan forum on all things concerning armadillos and emues, he went on to star in some of the most viewed redtube videos to date. He has tried his hand at online games but has stated repeatedly that anything he can't keybind to his one-button mouse isn't worth the time.

Also, he regrets the day he ever met that freak Alachia.
(OR this could be the place holder bio written because he has yet to submit one)

About Alachia:
I was born and raised in Texas but currently reside mostly in the Meta. I got my Master's of Architecture degree from the University of Texas but fell out of love with building design after four years of working in the business. It gets too depressing to see that no one in this country is willing to pay for good architecture and design. Long story short, I quit my job and ended up taking a drafting position instead where I get to work from home and get paid more.

I've always been interested in culture and society, it was the thing that drew me into Architecture in the first place. I loved the theory that you could effect individual and social behavior through space and building. I love the idea that social people are easily manipulated by a variety of queues and ever since I first "dialed" into the internet, I thought of nothing but possibilities.

Over the years and through the emergence of Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games and the virtual overnight skyscraper skyline of social networks, I've been more than excited. I've been playing World of Warcraft since launch and would say it's one of my most frequented meta locations. I also spend a good deal of time bouncing between bindpoint, twitter, flickr, and now gbuzz. The monitor is literally the fourth window in my room and the one I stare out of the most.

In such a short amount of time, I've observed the landscape of the meta change so drastically though. One minute, we were all lonely souls roaming the internet making small passing connections and the next, we are a global wide-awake network. However, I think I spent way too much time idealizing about my dream online world and in reality, it has not turned out as I had hoped...far from it.

I'm very interested in observing how we emerge past the point of infinite connections.
